Fast Facts

• Wickford Village was founded in 1709.
• The village of Wickford was originally the vision of Lodowick Updike, grandson of one of North Kingstown’s first settlers Richard Smith, and heir to the vast Smith/Updike landholdings known as Cocumscussoc.
• The Wickford Art Festival  was established in 1962.
• Construction was started on the First Baptist Meeting House of Wickford in the fall of 1816.
• The Washington Post described Wickford as "a charming and historic village of old churches, colonial houses, and beautiful gardens...on Narragansett Bay...it's the kind of place that makes you screech on the brakes, it's that cute."
